Heart and Vascular Awards

  • December 2012 - The Christ Hospital has been named to the Leapfrog Group’s 2011 class of top hospitals.
  • December 2012 – The Christ Hospital received the ACTION-Registry GTWG 2012 Platinum Performance Achievement Award for demonstration of achievement by sustaining performance measures in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction patients through the implementation of ACTION-Registry GWTG and in-hospital initiation of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Clinical Guideline recommendation.
  • October 2012 - The Christ Hospital received the Get With The Guidelines ® –Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifies that The Christ Hospital has achieved at least two years of 85% or higher adherence to the guidelines of care recommended by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology.

    October 2012- The Christ Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, formerly Thomson Reuters. The study examined the performance of more than 1,000 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure, heart attacks, and those who received coronary bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions. This is the 9th time The Christ Hospital has been recognized with this honor.
  • September 2012 – The Christ Hospital’s Mechanical Heart Assist Device Program was recognized as a Gold Standard Center by Thoratec, a leading developer of medical device therapies for patients with heart failure. As a Gold Standard Center, The Christ Hospital has achieved top 20 percent status in quality and outcomes metrics defined by Thoratec. Metrics include length of stay, readmission rates and best practices in post-implant communication and outreach, compared to other hospitals nationally that provide ventricular assist device (VAD) therapy. The Christ Hospital is one of a select few non-transplant centers implanting VADs in the U.S.
  • July 2012- The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati was selected by Humana as the first non-transplant hospital in the region to gain coverage for stand-alone left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation in heart failure patients. 
  • February 2012- The Christ Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for its Mechanical Heart Assist Device Program, which enables us to offer ventricular assist devices (VADs) as a destination therapy. The Joint Commission seal of approval is based on demonstrated compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of heart failure and LVAD patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
  • Nov. 2011 – American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines Heart Failure Gold Award
    The Christ Hospital has earned the Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifies that The Carl H. and Edyth Lindner Heart Failure Treatment Center has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients with 85 percent compliance for at least 24 months with core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.
  • July 2011 - U.S. News & World Report - Ranked 50 for cardiology and heart surgery
  • July 2011 - Top 100 Most Wired™ organizations in the country released by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine
  • June 2011 - Mission: Lifeline Bronze Performance Achievement Award (STEMI)
  • May 2011 - Advisor Med’s 2011 Greater Ohio Hospital Award - The Christ Hospital has received Advisor Med's 2011 Great Ohio Hospital Award by demonstrating results that consistently exceed our patients’ expectations. Advisor Med is a free, online report card/health care guide featuring home health care agencies, nursing homes, and hospitals. Their goal is to help consumers with their health care choices. The Christ Hospital ranks within the top tier of all hospitals in Ohio. To calculate this award, Advisor Med uses a variety of national standardized data including information from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services along with consumer reviews.
  • April 2011 - Platinum Level Recipient of the American Heart Association’s Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Recognition award.
  • April 2011 - Innovations Award from the American Heart Association for our Restaurant Partnership Program.
  • April 2011 - U.S.News & World Report’s list of Top Hospitals within the Cincinnati Metro Area, with 11 high performing specialties
  • April 2011 - The editors of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) honored Dean Kereiakes, MD, FACC, with the Simon Dack Award for Outstanding Scholarship on Sunday, April 3, at their editorial board meeting in New Orleans, LA. The Simon Dack Award, named for the founding editor of JACC, recognizes peer reviewers who assist the journal in its mission of publishing important new clinical information.
  • October 2010 - The Christ Hospital receives the Consumer Choice Award from National Research Corporation (NRC) for the 15th consecutive year, naming it Greater Cincinnati’s Most Preferred Hospital. (Based on Best Doctors, Best Nurses, Best Image/Reputation, Best Overall Quality)
  • October 2010 - Get With The Guidelines Silver Performance Achievement Award for Heart Failure - The Christ Hospital has received the Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Silver Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifies that The Christ Hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients with 85 percent or higher compliance for one year to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.
  • October 2010 - The Christ Hospital was named one of 10 Innovative Hospitals by Fierce Healthcare. The award recognizes hospitals that are not only considered among the best, according to several ranking organizations, but also are considered to be technologically innovative. In determining which hospitals were most "innovative," we took two things into consideration: The hospital had to appear on at least one of the following lists: HealthGrades, Thomson Reuters, or US News & World Report’s Best Hospitals listing. The organization also had to appear on either the "Most Wired" and/or "Most Wireless" hospitals lists compiled by Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine. Fierce then used its own judgment to narrow the remaining hospitals to the final 10. Fierce Health is an online magazine for healthcare executives.
  • August 2010 - The Christ Hospital received full accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) on August 15, 2010.  Established in 1998, SCPC is a patient-centric, non-profit, international organization focused on improving care for patients with heart disease. To best fulfill its mission, SCPC provides accreditation and education to facilities striving for optimum cardiac care.
  • 2009-2010 Hospitals & Health Networks 100 Most Wired and Most Wireless - Survey of hospitals and health systems through a partnership with the H&HN, American Hospital Association, McKesson and CHIME.
  • June 2010 - Heart Failure Certification from Joint Commission - The Christ Hospital is the first hospital in Ohio and the only hospital in the Greater Cincinnati area to be certified under The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Advanced Certification Program in Heart Failure. Developed in collaboration with the American Heart Association, this certificate of distinction recognizes hospitals that are making exceptional efforts to foster better quality of care and outcomes for heart failure patients.
  • May 2010 - American Association of Critical Care Progressive Care Beacon Award - The Cardiovascular Step Down Unit is the first in Southwest Ohio to be awarded an American Association of Critical Care Progressive Care Beacon Award. The Award, which was started for ICUs in 2003, requires strict criteria and demonstration that excellence is met in a variety of categories. There are an estimated 6,000 Intensive Care Units in the United States; 188 of those units have been recognized for excellence by this award.
  • March 17, 2010 – Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • March 2010 – Greater Cincinnati Health Council’s Innovative Solutions Award for “An Interdisciplinary Approach to Improving Glycemic Control in Cardiac Surgery Patients”
